How do I go about getting myself a PDF writing program, is there any free ones out there
or do I have to purhase through adobe.

PDF Creator is quite good.
Basically it adds a virtual printer to your system.
So you can just write your document in Word or any other program, then choose PDF Creator from the Print menu. Rather than sending the document to the printer, it outputs it as a pdf in the folder you choose.0 -
I use cute pdf http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp - works in the same was as the pdf creator mentioned above

I like Primo PDF which acts as a simple print driver. Simply select "Print" in your program, then select Primo from the list of printers in the dialogue box and then hit print. Select where you want to save the file and it'll create a PDF.
The best part is that its free.

If you happen to have office 2007 there is a free plugin from microsoft which allows it to save as pdf0
