Hello
I'm off on a business trip to Dublin soon and I'm not sure if travel insurance is really necessary.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks

Up to you...
Assuming you are a European Citizen you are entitled to the same treatment in emergencies as an Irish Citizen is... this may or may not be sufficient to you.
You personal possessions may or may not be covered by your home insurance.
As it is a business trip then presumably cancellation/ delay etc isnt an issue as the company would pick up the bill if you were stuck in ireland for an extra few days due to weather issues etc.
If you were critically ill could you afford to pay for a medical repatriation to home? Would your business pay for it? Would you want to or would you be happy to stay in the irish hospital for weeks/ months? All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

The medical aspect is the bit I'm worried about and if I'm covered for emergency treatment i think that would do. I'm confident my company would pay for me to come home if i became critically ill.
Do UK citizens have any more rights in Irish healthcare system than other places in Europe or is it the same?
I'm not taking anything personally very valuble, but i am taking a company laptop.
It is probably worth getting some anyway. It is only about £6 and i sure the company will pay.
Thanks
