can i get new car on iva

hi im 20mths into iva of 6 yrs doing everything by the book giving half of my overtime pay increase etc etc due to milage i am clocking up around 300 a week i am looking for a diesel car instead of petrol my fiance is willing to give/loan me 2000 and with selling my car should be able to raise 3500 what is the protocol with telling the iva do they class this as a windfall ? so wont let me get one ? any advice gratefully recieved :o

    She is entitled to give you a gift. To be on the safe side she should hand her share to the salesman, rather than give you a lump of cash. Other then that, as long as you can run the car without increasing your allowances, there should be no problem.

    thankyou yes she would pay balance so cash wouldnt change hands so to speak and hopefully will be cheaper due to fuel savings many thanks
  • I think you will be fine - most people need a car for work and the plan you have seems both sensible and fair. I had a payment break in my IVA to get a replacement car as the one we did have caught fire and burned to the ground!!
