1p Bargain

I was bidding on a number of auctions with no reserve using 1p max bids. One of these was for the new DVD 'The Sentinel' starring Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland. The seller for some reason decided to pull all of his auctions (he said something about going away on business so he wouldnt be able to mail the DVD's off to winning bidders). However, because the auction for The Sentinel had less than 9hrs remaining, he was unable to pull the auction and therefore had to sell at the currect bid price which was 1p! He also had no delivery costs. I sent off my 1p and received my brand new DVD in the post this morning. Great deal!

Just shows that some sellers do the 'right thing' when they mess up.

Starting auctions at 1p is a good way to gain attention and start a bidding frenzy - but you need to have the right listing and search keywords to make it work.

DVD's, CD's etc - far too big a selection on eBay to guarantee any bidding so 1p starts are v risky, but every credit to the seller for honouring it.

I've bid & won on a number of 1p auctions in this category, but I have had a few cancellations with "err - the dogs eaten it", "I've listed it twice in error" and the best "the car was written off on the way to the post office".

The CD was allegedly in it at the time. I'm almost positive it was a just ruse to avoid sending it, but bless 'im, he put so much effort into weaving the email about what happened...!
