Threat Of Debt Collection

Options
Hi. I've received correspondence from a private car parking company (who want to charge me an extortionate penalty charge), that they have handed over my details as car owner (given freely by DVLA much to my concern) to a debt collection agency. Is this the first step before possible court action and should I be worried even though they haven't identified the driver? Any thoughts would be grateful.

Just the usual meaningless and hollow threats. Just keep ignoring. What you must remember is that a "debt collector" is just a private citizen with no more powers than you or me to demand money off people. It won't go to court.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

This is how the conversation would go if a debt collector turned up on your door:-

Debt Collector "Hello, I have come to collect £150 owed by you to

You " Oh, have they been to court and obtained a judgement against me?"

    DC "No"

You "Then I don't owe them a penny and I dispute the alleged debt"

DC " Ok, thanks very much, goodbye"

Debt collector walks off into the sunset.

They have no powers, they cannot gain entry to your home, they are as effective as a chocolate teapot.

Ignore them, and let them get on with it.

Debt collector = meaningless phrase. Take absolutely no notice. If they go over the top with threats sue them for harassment; otherwise, just ignore the idiots.

I take it when you posted you read the sticky info thread 'PPC letters & threats' at the top first? Saw all the letter chain pics & watched the Watchdog clip too?

What else is there to know, everyone gets the threatograms, a PPC scam wouldn't be the same without those! :rotfl:

If you missed the top sticky thread for some reason (always read stickies when about to post in a forum) then it's at the top of the forum index view, which is just one click away. See my signature.

Not freely. The DVLA charges £2.50 a pop for RK details. A nice little earner.

As advised above, ignore the toothless debt collectors.
