Abysmal New Ride at Alton Towers: Nemesis Sub Terror (Don't waste time Queuing)

I went to Alton Towers on Saturday (opening day of season) and had a great day (quietest I have ever seen the park) but found the new 'ride' Nemesis Sub Terror simply abysmal and think Alton Towers must have spent more money on advertising and premonition of the attraction than actually on the ride itself.
I was fortunate enough not to have to queue up for 2 hours for the ride and so can't comment on the pre ride queue build up but the ride is basically:
Ride Spoiler
If you have ever been to the London or Blackpool Dungeons, there is a ride called Extremeiss (sp?) The new Alton Towers ride is basically this ride with lots of unnecessary narrative and theatrics.
During the day I noticed the ride time vary from 30 minutes to 150 minutes compared to 30 - 50 minutes for other rides and from overhearing other guests, not one had a good word to say about Nemesis Sub Terror.
On the other hand, Ice Age 4D is a great attraction, It's exactly what I thought it would be (3D film with added effects) and does the job very well.

Ride Spoiler
- Ride staff dressed in black security style uniform scream and shout at you to line up on dots inside a metal hanger.
- After more shouting, you are ordered into a mock elevator and 'pretend' to descend underground.
- More shouting and you are ushered into a large room with rows of ride seats where you sit and put the overhead safety bars over you.
- There is a large egg in the room and some narrative about it.
- The room goes dark, the floor under your feat disappears and you drop about 10ft?
- There is more narrative before you ascend and exit the area to another mock elevator.
- Once you leave the mock elevator, there are more staff shouting at you and the ride is over.

I would hate to go on a ride where I got shouted out and ordered about.Slimming World at target0 -
sounds a bit like hex, the one with a massive queue (when it first came out) a log in the middle of the room, whilst your on a room sized swing that sets off and the room rotates giving thevaguest of impressions your going upside down. the most unimpressive part was that they probably spent millions on the ride yet they have them on the back of a wagon and they attend fetes in germany, cant imagine they spend that much and you swing higher!
Still love alton towers though and enjoyed 13 last year, just wish they could have rita working for more than 30 minutes!0 -

have to disagree, really enjoyed it0 -
Another one in the disagree pile. I thought it was really good although the 1.4 height restriction seems a bit extreme.
And any one who queues for up to 2.5 hours for any ride really deserves to get shouted at by men in black security style uniforms. It was just 10 mins for us last Sunday, before it broke down and closed for the day!0 -

I accept that this is my opinion of the ride/attraction but if I had queued for such a long time to go on this ride or indeed paid to go into Alton Towers after seeing such a blatantly overhyped advertising campaign, I would be demanding a refund from Alton Towers on the grounds of misleading advertising.
(I already have an annual pass, so this visit didn’t cost extra and I didn’t have to queue as my daughter had a ride access pass)sounds a bit like hex, the one with a massive queue (when it first came out) a log in the middle of the room, whilst your on a room sized swing that sets off and the room rotates giving thevaguest of impressions your going upside down. the most unimpressive part was that they probably spent millions on the ride yet they have them on the back of a wagon and they attend fetes in germany, cant imagine they spend that much and you swing higher!

I quite like the Hex (although it does get boring quickly) and yes there are similarities between the two rides but Hex has a great back story, is set in genuine and authentic surroundings and when it was opened was something quite unique (I don't know about the German ones, but Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Drayton Manor have installed poor copies of Hex)
With Nemesis Sub Terror, It is based in a newly constructed shed, has special effects and scenery from the 1980's and the ride must be a part of a joblot Merlin purchased for The Dungeons.0 -
My husband and I went on this on Thursday and couldn't agree more.
We were going to queue 90 mins for it but it broke down so we managed to come back when the queue was just 5 mins.
When we got ushered into the room with an egg they don't prepare you for the long barrier coming down, over the row of seats and the music/sound FX are so loud you wouldn't be able to hear them if they did prepare you. This ended up with my husband been banged on the head with the barrier nearly getting trapped and having concussion on his head & a pretty sore neck.
Horrific ride.0 -

.
The Haunted Swing at Blackpool opened in 1954 so don't think it was a copy
