Best Credit Card for Purchases?

this has probably been asked a thousand times, but here goes:
I'm looking to increase my credit rating and want to sign up for a simple credit card that'll give me buy things with it without a charge and with a few months pay-back breathing space before interest is charged. Any rewards would be a bonus but not necessary.
I know I sound like a total novice about this, but I've never had a credit card before. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Try your own bank in the first instance. Then the aqua, vanquis route if that doesn't pay off.0

It sounds like you should be looking for the card with the maximum interest free days, which is usually around max 56.0
