I've just had a new meter installed on Monday. Both the old meter and the new meter had Rate 2 as Day and Rate 1 as Night. Strange, as I would have thought it more logical the other way around.
Really confused now. Is Super Tariff the same as Economy 7?

    This is on nPower's website:
How to read a Super Tariff meter
Your Super Tariff meter is very easy to use. Instead of dials, it has a liquid crystal display. By pressing the blue reference button on the meter in sequence, the display will show:

    Time
    Today's date
    Test screen
Meter reading for Rate 1A - Day Rate (General usage, daytime)
Meter reading for Rate 2A - Night Rate (General usage, night time)
Dummy display - just ignore this
Meter reading for Rate 2B - Heat Rate (Storage space and water heating)

After this sequence, the meter will revert to showing the meter reading now in operation.
My Economy 7 rates are the other way

You must have a different type of meter as I don't have any buttons to press. The digital display just constantly rotates through the three different sets of figures. I've not heard of Super Tariff before either so maybe it's something exclusing to nPower

Edit: oooops sorry totally misread what you meant ... just realised your rates are the opposite way around same as mine. Still can't help with the super tariff thing though but it does sound like a different type of meter that nPower refer to.

Yet another day filled with phone calls to various departments in Powergen to try and sort out the mess they're making of my accounts

As well as having my meter changed yesterday, I'm also going through the transfer process for them to take over my gas supply (for those that haven't ready my previous posts on the subject) and this is turning into a nightmare not unlike I experienced with Wanadoo when I changed my ISP last month (I'm beginning to wish I'd never started any of these switch overs now :( )

My initial calls were concerning this E7 meter, and trying to get access to my online accounts that for some reason had been blocked, but the final call I made to yet another dept was to confirm that an engineer would be calling next week to change my gas meter, which the woman I spoke to last night said she would arrange for me today. I happened to hit lucky and have the phone immediately answered by someone who actually makes the bookings (she doesn't usually answer calls but decided to take this one as she wasn't busy) and told me that everything I'd been told over the last few weeks was a load of rubbish and no engineer would be calling as I wouldn't be getting my meter changed anyway!!!!!

She even read all the notes that had been made on my file and said that everything I'd been told was wrong

At this point I just lost it and ashamed to say I broke down in tears icon11.gif ... I've had enough of being given the run around by these companies and fed a load of b0ll0x because they haven't got a bl00dy clue what they're doing. My 12 year old son could probably do a better job than half the goons I've spoken to at theses companies

The upshot is that as from midnight next Tuesday I will have no gas supply, as not only are they not providing me with a new meter, but they can't send a pre-payment card to use in my current meter as it's now Easter BH and these things take a week or two to process anyway ...sad.gif

Well surprise, surprise ... I've just received a phone call from Powergen (the head of the dept I spoke with last night) and she is now arranging for my meter to be changed next week after all :T

I wonder why the sudden change of heart, and to call me on a BH too!!! Not only that, but it transpires that they owe me in excess of £450 as I have been paying the wrong rate for the last 3 years!!!!

    Curry_Queen,

That's great, you must have been lucky with that phone call yesterday and she must have followed it up. At least there are some people willing to help others out there!

I was under the impression powergen only do an economy 7 tarif online and not a normal. (EDF's companies only do normal rate and not E7). I'm on my second switch now, SWEB (EDF) to London Energy (EDF) to Powergen, and was told I would not need a meter change by LE. They said I could simply add my two meter readings together to work out the bill. Your electric meters 3rd combined reading is for this purpose, you can use it with any tarif.

Congrats on the refund, beats the 1.39 SWEB are sending me that I am in credit.
    Regards

As far as I know I'm not on the online tariff yet so I assume they must do E7 on a normal account

That's something I'll chase up once the gas side of things are sorted out

They may owe me the money but there was no mention of a refund yet until my accounts are sorted out :(
