Used to be even up to 12-18 months ago we would go for a drive to the seaside every other weekend ( anywhere from 55-90 miles away ) buy some dinner in the local pubs, spend some cash in the local shops etc....

Cant afford to do that no more...Take a picnic up to the local green area instead, 10 mins away.

Now who loses out?

Retailers, shop owners, garages etc etc..... All of which will be paying tax to same said government. They cant have it both ways.

Motorist are way to easy targets....

The government are missing nothing. To them this is actually a very clever little scam that works nicely.

• They feed their craving for power over people
• They strain the nation to breaking point
• Businesses go to the wall
• HMRC have less customers to deal with
  • HMRC have less staff requirements (they're paid more than the CSA / DWP staff so its a saving)
• Government still gets its guaranteed income
• Government can then start contracting out work to other cheaper countries because all of our manufacturers hit the wall (in the same way they're trying to destroy Bombardier so they can use external cheaper train makers)

You still think they're being stupid? They've been at least 3 steps ahead of us the entire time. They know that fuel increases are crippling the economy and thats exactly what they want.

And when the pumps start running dry next month because the tanker drivers are going on strike, just watch that demand.

People will be queueing up for hours to pay any price asked ...

Finite resource goes up in price as more and more people use it and there becomes less of it- who'd have thought.............

Yes it is cheaper at 149.9 per litre than 150 per litre unless you buy exactly 1 litre. The total amount is rounded to the nearest penny. 100 litres @ 149.99 is £149.99 and 100 litres at 150 is £150.

This has been discussed before on here whether it should be banned, if you think it through then no no no no no no no!

Firstly even with prices in whole pence you still need to round to the nearest penny. If fuel was £1 per litre (I wish!) and I buy 0.995 litres of it, are they going to charge me 99.5p for it?

Secondly now we've established you aren't saving anything by making prices whole pence, since they usually end in .9 if you banned the practice do you seriously think any garage would round down and not up!

Just days after the chancellor refused to cancel the planned August rise, prices have now hit another painful barrier for Britain's hard-pressed motorists

It can't be just me thinking that the chancellor has done this deliberately so that he can cancel the planned August rise at the last minute and look to be on the side of the motorist.

Of course the gullible British public will fall for this hook line and sinker , just as we did a few months back.

I think the fuel strike scenario has been carefully constructed to be honest. They know people will panic buy which will allow the price to shoot up further (without coming back down of course).
