This isn't really an insurance thing but I thought that this board would be the best one to try for advice.
I was recently involved in a non fault accident, basically my car was hit from behind by another car, it is currently in the garage getting repaired!
The accident happened last Wednesday, by lunch time ish I was suffering from backache and shoulder pain, I got an emergency appointment with my doctor who did say I has the on set of whiplash.
I basically got worse wednesday afternoon, I had to take Thursday and friday off work ( on full pay, although this is discretionary ), the pain discomfort continued over the weekend and whilst I have a hire care I had to change my week end plans to visit friends, I have now had to come back to work, ( month end means I can't take anymore time off, so I haven't really got a choice ) although I am still in pain.
I have never suffered from a bad back or neck.
I have legal cover etc, I have never claimed on any insurance etc or been involved in an accident, lots of people are prompting me to make a claim for whiplash, and I wondered what other peoples experiences of this was, success rates, procedures etc, how long a claim would take.
I would really appreicate any advice etc etc.
thanks in advance,
L x

If you have LE cover then your claim needs to go through this channel if involving a solicitor. You can allow your insurers to appoint you a solicitor from their panel (which gives you protection if the solicitors mess up as the insurer recommended them) or chose a solicitor of your own (as long as they sign up to operate under the terms of the policy). An alternative option is to deal directly with the TPI if they have accepted liability but I dont want to start the old debate on this again.
Not sure what you mean to success rates... I would say 95-100% if you are honest
The length of time depends on the extent of the injury. Basically you cannot be paid until a doctor is willing to state you will be as better as you will ever be (if that isnt going to be 100%) in X months/ years time. After a doctor has said this then you are then probably looking at up to a couple of months again depending on the extent of the injury.
A minor whiplash case should be quick to resolve but these things can always be significantly extended when one party or the other wants to use a specific medical expert who has months (or years) of a waiting list. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
