is it just my 2 year old....

that knows how to log onto itunes, and find what ever he is looking for...to be fair usually the phonics 2 apple song or twinkle twinkle little star lol

and my ipod touch....music, photos, games....his favourite is bullseye and temple run at the moment..im sure he thinks he is 15 !!

anyway my question is this....i really dont want my son to use my ipod all the time (he already smashed the screen once) so i am lookin for something that plays music, pop music not kiddy music and that he can play games on..must have a light up screen

is there anything that actually exists with the above APART from my ipod :)

haha I have the same problem with my brother and sister (2 &3) fighting over who gets to play spongebob tickler on my iphone.

On the PC if I start a youtube they carry on watching by clicking on suggested videos. Once I went to get a drink came in to find my sister watching a 10 minute video that just kept repeating the single line "what's the story in balamory", she was on 2 minutes and still found it hilarious :S Have to be careful thought coz once they found this:

they found that funny too lol.

    what about an old DS?
  • Yeah iv got a ds which he likes but to be fair, who wants to be mugged off with a ds when you can have mummys ipod lol

My 2 yr old is the same with you tube, and also phonics 2! One day I was at work and burst out singing "a is for apple a a apple, b is for ball b b ball" lol.

I download the songs from you tube and he has his own playlist on ,my ipod which he uses with a plug in speaker. I will get him his own one when I get round to it, but I don't use mine anymore anyway so he can use it for now. I found as long as he has his songs on there, he's happy not to keep using the laptop!

If he's that clever, you should be seeing about teaching him to read. He could be streets ahead when he gets to school.

I have two children, and think that I am fairly techy advanced. But they show me. Ipod, Itunes, basically anything electrical. My eldest son is now nine and has his own blog website.

Its fantastic and you should encourage them,

My 2 year old nephew is also a whizz on my brother's Ipad and Iphone (although did manage to delete all the notes on SIL's Iphone last week ) and I think it is just how toddlers are brought up these days (now I sound about 105!) rather than the sign of a child genius :D Completely agree about books though, not necessarily reading but encouraging and interest - although that it OT and not what the OP asked,

OP could you buy an old Ipod - have a look on Ebay maybe - and load it with songs your LO would like to listen to?

What about a VTech InnoTab? It looks a bit like an iPad, you can download music and movies to it and also connect it to the Kiddizoom camera if your little one wants another gadget too :)

Why not buy him his own ipod?

Yep, if he's that bright I'd buy him his own ipod and be looking at some of the wonderful apps there are for early learners. Grasshopper apps are good starting point, they're fully customisable so you can use your own voice in them rather than the default twang.
