another vote for pots and plants- we got the cheapest plants and white pots from ikea, my son drew on the pots and they looked pretty good. 5 years later we saw one lady and she remembered and told us the plant was still going.0

I was given an orchid by the first class I taught during my teacher training - it has flowered every year since I've had it, and every time it flowers, I think of the class (and their teacher - my mentor) who gave it to me. A plant that flowers every year would be nice if you are choosing a plant to put in your pots evansmummy. I also have a little teddy bear keyring wearing a t-shirt that says #1 teacher - this was from my second placement, and it still hangs on the zip on my handbag (I move it each time I buy a new bag), and I remember the girl who gave it to me fondly - she will be leaving secondary school this year! I think the thing about both of these presents, is that they are made to last, so the memories do too.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Please no! The guilt when one dies is terrible! (I do not have green fingers...)Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
lol, perhaps a fake plant!0

I'd also go with fake plant
I'm rubbish with them. Sexymouse - any orchid tips?! I was bought one in April 2011 for my wedding, it died despite my best efforts, I bought another one out of guilt, and that one died too!!!
Back on topic: I've been a teacher now for four years. As well as the fake plant suggestion, I'd generally go with anything usable or consumable. This obviously covers anything edibleDiaries, incense burners, mugs, fridge magnets etc also work well and are easily regiftable or charity-shoppable if there is a surplus
Nothing personalised (i.e. with the teacher's name on it)...please...unless it is a handmade card or picture from a child.0 -

Isn't that strange? in our staff room those are the most prized gifts - a personalised mug with your own name on - as it means no one nicks it!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

God where I worked they'd nick the nails if you nailed your mug down (always the Y6 bods) - we tried a range of tactics, including deliberately hunting out the most embarassing football team ever mugs - nowt stopped the mug pilfering.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I would say don't bother. My husband is a primary school teacher and as been sais before the stuff either goes in the bin or to a charity shop. CERTAINLY no home made drawings/crafts!!!0
