Road Tax Exception Cert.

Hi,
I've had a Road Tax Exception Cert. for as long as I can remember, it was an A4 (2 sided sheet) and lasted forn4yrs, the front had my details with the date range it run from/to and on the back was 4 spaced which you signed, entered the Reg. No. and had stamped...
When I need a new one I sent off the old and a few weeks later a new one came through the post, but this last one (I received this week) was more the standard looking DSS letter, which stated I get high rate DLA and I'm excepted from Road Tax.
Is this the new form and how do you use it, I can't make head or tail of it.
Cheers

sounds like you need to request a DLA404, see

I had same letter sent to me when my old form ran out, it was rejected twice at the Post Office, the letter just doesnt make any sense what so ever ,It doesnt seem to even look like an official letter or exemption form......I telephoned the DWP and they said that that is all you get sent now, I explained that the PO wasnt happy with itand would not give me a new disc with their new form, so DWP told me to get the PO to telephone them, I did eventually get my tax disc, but I expect you and I are not alone with these "new" forms............Why change a system that worked very well.......?I bet theres been loads of complaints...0

- the old DLA404's have been replaced with a new ' Certificate of Entitlement '
- along with the reusable Certificate of Entitlement you should have been given a DVLA form called a ' INS216 'Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. That's my thought, it's completely different to the old one.....
I tend to do my Road Tax Online, so I guess will just have to enter the Number on the new 'Certificate of Entitlement', but wanted to know I wasn't missing something that I should of received.

Yep, I received that with it, but it didn't make much sense to me. I would of expected it to state that this is the NEW system and replacement to the old form & explain how it differs (maybe with a Q&A part), or I may just be getting old.....0 -
Hi Chorlie, my Mum took my Certificate of Entitlement with her renewal form and mot + car insurance certificate to our local Post Office and they just accepted it and gave her the tax disk. Perhaps, you need to try a bigger, better informed P O? They should be helping you especially as they should know what is required to qualify! x best wishes and good luck x

I find yhe easiest way is to do this online, very simple and the new tax disc arrives in a few days.0

Sorry to hijack the thread - can anyone tell me what happens when the DLA award finished before the vehicle duty expires? I was awarded DLA HRM in October, but it was backdated to August. Hence my award is due for renewal 2 months before the vehicle duty.
Will I have to pay the whole 10 months myself, or will they let me renew and then pay at the end of my DLA term?0 -
I took my "Certificate of Entitlement" to the Post Office on Monday to get my new tax disc. I got into conversation with the lady behind the counter and she told me that the Government are going to have to look at replacing the Certificate of Entitlement with something else, as it could be used fraudulently, to tax more than one vehicle. She then stamped my Certificate, as would have happened with the DLA404. I was quite happy about this in case my Certificate was ever stolen/borrowed and tried to be used again.0
