Drying towels outside on a line

I don't use fabric conditioner as I find it makes them a little waterproof & they don't seem to soak up the wetness very well, therefore not drying you that well.

I would love to know how to keep them fluffy without tumble drying them as my electric bill is always huge, mainly down to the dryer.

I'm exactly the same - I like rough towels, and love getting into a cold bed. The time I'm not keen on rough towels is when I use one to dry my hair, but that softens up after a few uses.
