Redundant after 2mths

2mths into my new job and the management have concluded that the time isn't right for their planned expansion. I and 11 of my colleagues are made redundant.
I had not yet received a Contract of Employment and on reviewing my Employment Offer now see that there are no details regarding Termination of Employment.
Normally, I would have anticipated 1 months notice but in the absence of any agreement would this default to 1 week per statutory requirements?

hard to say really but it would be plus any accrued holiday pay.
Were you not told at any time what the terms of notice were.
Do any of the other people who are being made redundant have contracts of employment,
What is the nature of the job and were yo paid monthlymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
From what I understand, without a contract and having worked less than a year, you don't have a foot to stand on unfortunately.
I know someone who was in a job for two years and then got two weeks notice sent to their home address on the first day of their two week holiday. They didn't have a contract and took it to UCAS but they didn't get anywhere as the guy didn't have a contract.
I used to work at Broomfield Hospital and when I got my contract after about 10 weeks, I was verbally told my job would be permanent after my 3 months probationary period. We then got a new manager who was russian and she said she didn't trust me because I was British and with that, she give me a weeks notice two days before the end of my probationary period.
It seems to me that employers can do whatever they want within your first year of employment.0 -

Perhaps it was UCAS as the suggestion the person didn't have a contract was wrong.
Then again, some do say that ACAS uses call centre operators who aren't too hot on the intricacies of employment law.0 -
I've been corresponding with my former employer with respect to the above. Essentially, I got paid my monthly salary, 1 weeks notice and 2.5days holiday.
I have not contested the notice as I believe that they have met the statutory requirements. I do believe however that they have been shy with the holiday pay.
Firstly, my query is over the date my employment ended. In the absence of any written statement from my Employer I have interpreted, by virtue of the payment of my monthly salary and 1 weeks notice, I say my employment ceased on 06/04/12. My employer has stated that it was 23/03/12 - the day I was told I was being made redundant and that I should go home.
Secondly, assuming my leaving date is per my understanding, I am asking for holiday pay to equate to 14wks/52wksx29days=6.7days. My Employer has responded that I am only entitled to 2.5days for every complete month worked (ie February as in his opinion my employment ended on 23/03/12) as stated in the Employee Handbook. I never received, had sight of or was advised that an Employee Handbook existed!!!
Would anyone like to comment on the merits of my arguement?
thanksinadvance

When is the holiday year looks like Jan-dec if you are claiming 14weeks upto 6/4/12
They have terminated with PILON so can say 23/4/12, looks like they have paid a bit extra if they gave you a full month(you might want to keep that quiet.
They can't use full months to accrue holiday so they have
have you taken any and does the 29 incude BH?
When was your start date?0 -
I started on 16th Jan and finished on 23rd March.
holiday year was Jan - Dec with a 29day annual allowance inc stats
I hadn't taken any holidays during my employment
I received my full March pay + 1 week notice. Debt @ January '10 =£79712
