monitor issue regarding graphics card

bought a graphics card yesterday - was the ati radeon x1900 xtx

put this in along with a 700w PCU - everything boots up fine, however the monitor shows as no signal as if the computer is switched off.

we have tried installing the drivers first and putting it in, we have also tried putting it in whilst computer switched on but all lead to a blank screen..

Anybody got any ideas?

specs are as follows:

iXtreme M3720 Packard Bell
Graphics card: nVidia 7100 integrated
4GB RAM
Processor: Intel(r) Core(TM) 2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHZ 2.50GHZ
64bit Operating System
Windows 7
PCU is 700w

Sorry to ask the obvious, but are you now connecting the monitor cable to the graphics card output rather than the mobo graphics output (I assume that you were previously using the onboard graphics)?
What connection method are you using?

You tried to put the GFX card in when it was switched on? not a good idea.

If you haven't switched off the integrated GFX & your still getting no signal it could be the monitor or cable
