My husband changed his job in January so wondered whether this would cause a lender an issue when applying for a mortgage. I am also on maternity leave but am going back to my job in October and have been with the same company for nearly four years. Really need to move due to our growing family.

Some lenders will be more bothered than others, go see an IFA who will be able to give you a good idea of who will lend to you in your current position.0

Is he still on any sort of probationary period? If now confirmed, would probably be okay with most lenders - does he have a solid work history before that? Is the new job along the same lines as the old one/s?

Me and my boyfriend had both only been in our jobs for about a month when we got our mortgage with Santander at the end of 2010. We went through a broker who looked for mortgages with '0 months in current job' in the terms, to avoid any problems. We did have to provide a copy of our contracts and I had one payslip to show them.0

I read an article last week that some lenders weren't counting the salary of women on maternity leave due to the chances of them not returning to work after. Talk about sexist!Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
