op..if you can afford it do it and enjoy in this nice weather..I am enjoying my Audi A5 cabriolet I bought a month ago..6 months old, loaded with extras. Dont listen to the crap about 4 seats..it is lovely..I needd the 4 seats for when i pick my two kids from school and they love it with the roof down. Regarding diesel noise thats again rubbish..my diesel Audi is quiter than my previous Mercedes which was petrol.
Admittedly I was considering the Merc. E class but it would have cost me at least an extra £5000 to get what I have got on the Audi..All in all I am very pleased and never regreted my purchase
I pick my kids up from school by bike, but I have a four seat convertible too, and you certainly don't need to spend tens of thousands on one.
One thing to consider with a four seat convertible is that it's generally possible to drive around topless in even very cold weather, but only the front-seat passengers will be comfortable. The rear seats will be wind-buffeted and freezing.
So yes, four-seat convertibles are viable, but they still work best if you only use two seats. (Ok if you are only driving half-a-mile home from school then the wind is probably not a problem, but on longer journeys it wil be.)0
