The BBC pointed out that he hadn't broken any laws.
Kind of surprised no one has mentioned cash for honours here. There is a prime example of a bent party.0 -
Could also be a reminder from a certain media group as to their influence??"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
"big business is parasitic, like a mosquito, whereas I prefer the lighter touch, like that of a butterfly. "A butterfly can suck honey from the flower without damaging it," "Arunachalam Muruganantham0 -
Party donors have always bought access. Nobody is trying to say who Cameron can and cannot invite to his boozy barbecues at Chipping Norton, though in that case the Party will pay for the sausages.
Inviting donors to semi-official dos at Number Ten is technically a bit rich, but so far as buying access goes, it doesn't make that much difference."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -

The press always say that to protect themselves from legal action. They don't need to allege law breach to make their point so why bother. If you read the bribery act, this sort of behaviour appears to be exacts what the act seeks to criminalise. My view is that both parties have broken the law which the govt made such a fuss over introducing.0 -

I wouldn't worry too much about that - Pilger et al moan about the Beeb being too right wing, others that it's too left wing, so it probably means the overall bias is about neutral!0 -

I don't think he aimed that at Beeb the'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Loving the fact that the OP sig is a quote from Bevan. Nothing like continuing the class war fights of 80 years ago, eh?
Meanwhile, can someone tell me how asking business to fund the Tories and hoping to influence policy is in any way philosophically or morally different from the Unions funding Labour in the expectation of influencing policy?
The real scum are the Labour and the unions who are opposing every single measure taken to fix the deficit they caused, and who seem to expect "the rich" to pick up the entire tab for their freebies and profligacy.
And as to "noses in the trough", you'd do well to find anyone snorting the slurry than the London Underground Unions who hold the country to ransom time after time.
perhaps labour have close ties to the unions because they along with working people and the socialists founded the labour party0 -
I hope the cost of PM visits isn't included in RPI calculations as it's going up rather rapidly!0

I wonder if the heads of Bovis, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon have had a little personal chat with the PM?0
