Hello,

About 5 and a half years ago I went mad with money and now regret it as my credit files are shot to pieces.

Now the big question is . . .

WHERE DO I START ??? :(

I realise that 2 have dropped off already and do not show as the 6 years have passed. . .

By the looks of it a few more are due to drop off as well soon. So am I best to wait until the ones that are nearly about to drop off do so and then atempt to sort the recent things out.

Im only on JSA at the moment :(

1, Where do I start ?

2, I know I have a CCJ aswell for £247 and have offered £1 a month that has been accepted forst payment is on 4th April via SO through internet banking.

3, Credit Expert says I have 145 linked addresses, this is mainly the same 4 or 5 addresses but when I have applied for things online in the past due to moving around a lot I have not been able to remember exact dates and the order in which I had lived in various places, this is also the same with months and years as there is some the same but with slightly different dates.

4, Also on the 4th one up on Equifax i notice there is no default date although it was a DCA, I paid the £51 and dont have a clue when this will come off.

I have not received hardly any letters now to what I did 4 or 5 years ago. I have not had any contact from any DCA apart from recent Lloyds ones.

Helpful Tip: - IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS READING IMAGES AS SO SMALL TRY HOLDING CONTROL AND MOVING THE SCROLL WHEEL ON YOUR MOUSE FORWARDS OR BY PRESSING CTRL AND THE + SIGN AND THEN - TO ZOOM OUT AGAIN

I'm afraid I haven't looked at the images in depth - there's really too much info ...... you'd be better to make a list of the outstanding debts and the dates of the defaults for people to comment on.

I'm afraid now you've looked at your credit reports, you may find some of the creditors make contact again so be prepared for that.

The defaults will drop off after 6 years from the dates they were issued so, as you say, some may well be due to drop off soon.

I'd also recommend doing a Statement of Affairs http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html so we can get a better picture of your income / outgoings and debts

    Hi Kieron26,

As rising has already pointed out, any of the defaults from 2006 will start dropping off your credit file this year and while it may not be exactly 6 years after the defaults have been applied, it won't be long after that. Even though the defaults have gone, you may still get debt collection agencies contacting you to try to get you to pay, but if you haven't ackowledged the debt or paid anything towards it for 6 years or more, then these debts will be statute barred. As you have just got a copy of your credit file, the calls and letters will probably start again fairly quickly. As you are on jobseekers allowance, there obviously isn't that much money available, but they will be looking for some type of repayment offer. I hope someone with more knowledge than me will be along soon to advise.

    Good luck

If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

is there anything I can do about 145 linked addresses ? this was just because when applying I have not been able to remember the exact order I have lived in places and also exact dates so it has caused lots of these.
  • There are a few due to drop off soon - however, there are also quite a few which won't drop off until 2017 and 2018 - it may be worth setting up payment plans for these so at least they will be able to be marked "settled" at some point.

For the linked addresses - every time you move address, each lender will create a link to your old address, which will be one of the reasons there are so many if you've moved a lot.

I wouldn't worry about them TBH - the report that lenders see will only show each address one time

The SOA would still be helpful to see if there's any slack in your budget / places that savings could be made.

Car Sorry but if neither of you work you must either consider losing the car or at the very least use it for essential journeys only & try to cut down on trips - the amount you're paying in fuel & insurance is unsustainable without proper income to pay for the car. Hard decision I know but .....you're paying nearly £250 / month and you can't afford that.

It would also give you £1k to put towards the debts.

Gas / Elec How big is your house? As a comparison I pay a total (for both) of £64/month in a 3 bed semi

Income the other option is to increase your income / if this can't be done then I'm afraid hard decisions re the car / mobiles etc will need to be made

Debts Afraid can't advise on which to clear first without APRs but with the amount of debt compared to your income, unless there is someway of increasing the income within a reasonable time period
OR get rid of the car, then you're not going to make headway. Please give one of the debt charities a call for some advice.

    Best of luck

    Hi Kieron

Sorry hun but the car accounts for a whopping 33% of your income. Add the mobile phone contract(s) and you are at nearly half of your income spent on car and mobile phones. Do you really, really need the car? Also - you have nothing for TV licence - is that right? I echo Rising re the gas also. I'm in a 3 bed 3 storey town house and even with my old very inefficient boiler I'm paying £65.00 p/m for gas. Are you paying off arrears here? Most energy providers have a scheme in place for those households paying more than 10% of their income on energy.

Have you tried the CCCS debt remedy https://debtremedy.cccs.co.uk/start.aspx this would help you to see what your options are.
