ppi claim against Lloyds or Scottish Widows?

Hello all.
My Mam was miss sold a ppi on a mortgage that she took out in her local Llyods branch in 2003. She was told she had to have it to get the mortgage. Her mortgage was with the C & G and her ppi was with Scottish Widows. She sold her house in 2007 and paid over £40 per month until then for her ppi. I wrote a letter to Lloyds with a claim form, but received a letter back saying they could not find any ppi on her mortgage and asked if she had anymore information. She doesn't have any details , account numbers or anything so what should we do next?
Thanks in advance , Colin.

Scottish Widows does not have a PPI product. Scottish Widows is a life assurance company not a general insurance company. PPI is short term insurance provided by general insurance companies.I wrote a letter to Lloyds with a claim form, but received a letter back saying they could not find any ppi on her mortgage and asked if she had anymore information. That response seems fair enough. Clearly the Scottish Widows plan is not PPI. Lloyds/C&G do set up their MPPI correctly as monthly payment from the current account. So, if there have been no MPPI payments on the current account then she never had it. The Scottish Widows plan would be something different. Scot Wid offer life assurance, pensions, investments and permanent health insurance.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
