    Hi all

I've left the area exposed to ensure I've fixed the leak. I have!
Unforetunately, there is a section of rotted joist. It's close to where the joist meets the supporting wall and is probably the top 3 inches of the joist, closest to the floor boards and about 8 inches in length along the joist. Completely soft to the touch. I can access from below. Are there any suggestions as to how I can sort this without taking drastic remedial action?
The bottom half to 2 thirds of the joist is sound.

Firstly, it will not go anywhere, so no panic as the load bearing is well spread. If decent access, just fix a timber plate onto the damaged section. You can bolt screw it on. Having cured the leak it will dry out.

    Cheers

Highly recommended. I just drilled a 1" hole in the floor board from below. Was able to manipulate the camera all the way round the shower tray. It takes a few minutes to get yourself orientated and obviously you'll need a laptop.

    tigress, i'll report back, thanks.
