Amazon

Amazon Customer Service is brilliant. I reported an item which had broken, within half and hour they had sent a return label, and the following day I received a replacement item. It gets better, the broken item, once packaged up can be dropped off at loads of places, rather than standing for half an hour in the Post Office. My drop off point was at a local shop, two minutes walk away.
I've always like Amazon but they really do deserve praise for their customer service.

Another thumbs up for Amazon, but a huge thumbs down for HDNL. I placed an order with Amazon on Wednesday and paid for guaranteed next day delivery. On Thursday my mum waited in all day for the package, as it was her birthday present-not to mention her birthday. No package, therefore a very disappointed P.D.D. and an equally disappointed mum!
On Friday, I arranged a callback from Amazon who phoned HDNL to find out what had happened (it had shown on tracking as delivered). HDNL said they would "interview" the driver about the whereabouts of my parcel. Amazon refunded my postage costs, and the package arrived today:j, 2 days after it should have done.:mad:0 -

not only do they sell everything, they are cheap and very quick to deliver! most of the time the item is here well before the date on the email says it will be
never had a problem with them and *touch wood* that will continue in the future0 -

More praise for Amazon from me. Bought an HTC Desire phone 5 months ago which had just started turning itself off several times a day. Called Amazon. No quibble and a pre- paid returns label was e-mailed instantly. The phone was collected and payment refunded within 5 days. Other companies could learn a lot! Amazing!0

Yes, like how they made a profit of about 7.6 Billion and paid no corporation tax to the government.
Good to see "Were all in it together"0 -

It was sales of £7.6 billion (over 3 years) and not profits of £7.6 billion.
The profits that would have been taxable if they were UK based is estimated at £266 and £360 million.
It appears that what Amazon is doing is legal, and is no different to what what many MPs and other businesses are doing, just on a larger scale because of their higher turnover.
In the year up to march 2011, one of the companies owned by Tony Blair had a turnover of £12 million, but he managed to only pay tax of about £315,000, and this is only 1 of about a dozen companies owned by him, with just about all of the money being passed through these companies and little, if no tax being paid.0 -

And what UK legislation was broken then? Have they broken any laws? Were they legally obliged to pay corporation tax to the government?
My worry is that they will do the same to Amazon and their likes that they intend doing to gambling companies by closing loopholes for companies based in Gibraltar.
On another note -and as this is a rant thread, I just cannot believe how successive governments have allowed the incessant advertising of Gambling - very likely to appease gambling companies who had competition from the National Lottery.
Gambling is an addiction - and causes just as much misery as drinking and drugs and I find it ironic that large stores now have to hide packets of cigarettes and tobacco - bl**dy ridiculous!
Remember the days when the High Street bookmaker had to blank out windows so kids could not see what was going on inside - nowadays, it is in your face everywhere you go - even the soaps on TV are sponsored by them.
Sorry OP for hijacking your thread - Rant over!! But for Amazon, their customers services are second to none and for the many times I have bought from them, my experiences are positive ones.0
