I have to say I much prefer the look of the lower section of the hedge, even though it's a bit wonky. The tall section looks deeply oppressive, even on this side. How about trimming the tall section to match?Val.0 -

Nope, they have a small retaining wall behind the hedge and a paved garden, no plants !
The trampoline is usually at the top of the garden, it was only there because my gardener had moved it to cut the grass on Friday. They will be able to see kids jumping on it now though !0 -
In the picture the hedge looks far more than 10 foot and the houses below seem to be a lot llower than your property and even with the lower cutting you cant see their upstairs window
Not really sure why you needed such a high hedge tbh0 -

The hedge has been the same height for the last 6 or 7 years, the other 5 neighbours have no issues with it, if this one neighbour had had the decency to ask me about "trimming" it, i would have done. I'm not going to trim the rest of the hedge, if i'd wanted a lower hedge i would have kept it at a lower level years ago. Does it look as though it's been "trimmed" to you ?0 -

I can understand your anger. I'd be going nuts in your shoes.
I don't know about the kids jumping up and down. I think I'd do a bit of nude sunbathing, then forget to put my clothes on before going for a long bounce - me and a dozen mates.0 -

Oh, it looks a bit messy but I'm sure that could be tidied up. I'm just saying it looks oppressive even on your side and it's one solution, to cut the entire thing to match.Val.0 -
ahh right that makes sense. The houses are bungalows.
Would it not create more light for you too to have it at this lower height all round? Have you asked the other neighbours how they feel? I know you say they have no issues but some people will be too scared to say anything
I do agree it looks a mess but i think if you got someone to do it properly it could look lovely again0 -
Damage has been done, but a clear-cut case of criminal damage and probably trespass, too.
I think I would sue, use the compo to replant some large conifers (very expensive) and then consider having them lopped afterwards. The criminal who caused this should not be allowed to get away with it. Get away with this, what might they try next?0
