is it safe for buyer to arrange own courier collection?

someone has just asked if they bid on 3 of my items can they arrange their own courier collection after payment has cleared through paypal, as they have a contract with parcelforce.

they are actually all buy it now items at approx £50 each with £6-£7 postage each

if i ask her for the tracking numbers will this be safe? so i can provide proof of delivery to paypal? or do i need to send them myself to be covered?

i can send all 3 together by an ebay courier for about £5-£6 myself anyway

I would be very wary. You really need to ask for a bank transfer rather than Paypal as you will be in a very weak position trying to prove delivery. You will be dependent on their goodwill in providing the tracking details
  • The courier driver would be able to give you the tracking number when he collects the consignment. He should also leave you a receipt with the tracking number on it. At least that is what DHL have done when collecting parcels.

Alternatively, you could offer to reduce your shipping price to the £5-6 that it would actually cost you.

will i still get a receipt from parcelforce when they collect if the other person has booked the collection though?
  • When I have used couriers, they just pick up the parcel and leave you with the collection note with relevant tracking details. I would doubt the driver would know who has arranged for collection.

oh well it doesn't matter now anyway, she asked me about arranging her own courier collection and then asks me if i will take less for the items - which i won't

surely you should enquire about the prices of the items first before talking about arranging couriers for them!
