Halifax Ultimate Reward Accout Changes

Hi all,

I currently recieved a letter informing me of changes to my ultimate reward account.

Everything i understand except for this bit, sorry if sounds like im rather dumb but this is coming off a letter with the halifax logo slapped on the top of it..

Card Protection Cover

We also wanted to tell you about a change to your card protection policy. From 1st may 2012 it no longer offers you cover for card fraud protection, but dont worry, if you are ever the victim of fraud you shoule be covered by the bank who issued your card. For further details please contact your issuing bank.

What is confusing me is that i thought halifax was the bank, or do they say this due to the letter being a template?

Thanks.

    I think you'll find it's a template letter.

I could be wrong, someone in a pinstripped suit may have personally dictated the contents to his secretary for her to subsequently type out. I'm not sure what extra value a Halifuxitupagain Ultimate Reward Account provides, but the personal service bit might be a part of it.

What they're saying is correct. That the cover they previously sold you was, of course, unnecessary and valueless.

Was there any pet insurance provided under the policy? You may be in for more bad news...

Nope, unfortunately the ultimate reward scheme didnt give cover for pets, but i saw that on watchdog the other night and thought it was stupid, and made me giggle when halifax said they were giving pet insurance as a life insurance however there advertising documents said it was for life of the pet.

It's probably provided by CCP Group, who are on the verge of going bust.

    Just a guess -

The offer originally was to cover all cards, not just the ones issued by Halifax.

If Halifax issue all your cards, they are the ones to contact if something is amiss. If you have other cards which in theory were covered under the previous offering, they no longer are and you would need to deal with the other bank(s) for those.

That was exactly it. They offered card protection for all your debit and credit cards. It is / was through Sentinel I think.

It's not much of a loss TBH. What they say about being covered already is true.
