Laptop or netbook for student? Advice please.

My son is 13 (yr 9) and we have just discovered that he may have disgraphia - problems with writing - he is therefore allowed to use a computer in class and for exams. I am just trying to work out the best solution for him. So far I have come to these conclusions but any advice would be appreciated.

Netbook: Positives: Compact, easy to carry/use in class, price
Negatives: Limited applications (may not be an issue though) Keyboard not full size (don't want this to slow him down)

Laptop: Positives: Can use for everything, full size keyboard
Negatives: Price, Heavy to transport

Not sure about battery life of either - but will be an issue as will need to last the school day if possible or be quick to recharge. Need to use Microsoft Office.

Any other things I should look for? Any models/special offers about I should look at?

Want to get something that will last him through GCSE/A levels - hopefully.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
