Direct Debit set up to "Santander Uk (SAVINGS)"

Hi, I just looked in my Direct Debits list in Santander's online banking for the first time in a while, and spotted two which I'm not too sure about. Both are made out to "Santander Uk (SAVINGS)" and have reference numbers which don't mean anything to me. Neither have ever made a payment according to the banking site.

I do have an outstanding loan with Santander, however I also have a DD set up to "SANTANDER PERSONAL FINANCE", and I'm guessing that it's this one which is to do with the loan (even though, again, there is no last payment listed even though the loan IS getting paid). My Santander products are the loan, two current accounts, a savings account and my ISA, but neither of my savings accounts have any automatic payins and I would have thought it would be standing orders only if I wanted to put a monthly sum into my ISA, not a DD.

Anyone have any idea what the DDs for savings are (and whether I can probably cancel them), or am I going to have to pop into the branch next weekend when they're open again and ask?

Cheers!

Why not send them an email & ask them ???
Easier than going into the branch....thats what online banking is about.
I am sure there will be a way to send a secure email from the online banking site.

If it is any consolation to you my Santander Current account also has 2 DD's to UK SAVINGS set up (not by me).
I have 2 savings accounts from/to which I can transfer money although to my knowlwdge the DD has never been used.

I wonder if it is their way of transferring money into your Current Account should it get into trouble, although I would have thought they would have internal means of doing that.

Is your account an old A&L account with a linked e-saver account? I used to have an A&L Premier Direct account, that had a linked e-saver, and when Santander took them over they set up a direct debit to make payments from the current account into the e-saver

Why not just call them up, they will be open now.

They are nothing to worry about - they are the mechanism for transferring money (only when you request it) from the savings accounts into your current account

I would expect it's a way of dealing with legacy A&L accounts - agree it's a bit of an odd way of doing it
