Carparts-Direct.co.uk - Shabby service

This company also trades as Fittapart and is based in Derby.

Purchased windscreen wiper blades after first calling them to discuss the suitability of the blades for my vehicle and then placed order on-line specifying the make, model and year.

The blades were incorrect and could not be fitted to my vehicle after all. I was told to return them for a refund. Although this happened, they did not refund the recorded delivery and postage.

I called to asked why this had not happened, despite the fact that I enclosed a letter politely requesting a postage refund since IT WAS NOT MY FAULT these incorrect parts were sent out. Dominic promised me that the refund would be done the same day (9.02.07).

Today I spoke to James, who flatly refuses to refund my postage and said the parts do fit on my car (This is the same man that spoke to my husband when we were experiencing problems fitting these parts and expressly told him that the parts would not fit and we should return them for refund  ).

Shabby service Carparts Direct - I would not bother ordering anything from you again, as it is utterly unfair for customers to have to pay for your mistakes!! I wish had not taken such care and time to pack those parts far better than you had done when you sent them out to me in the first place!

Did you pay by card? If so speak to your card issuer and see if they are able to do a chargeback or help at all

Edit, sorry is it the postage you paid to them that they are refusing to refund? If so then I guess the chargeback isnt applicable, my misinterpretation before I think

How much has it cost you?

  • Yep it is only the postage, so credit card company would not be worth calling and besides it was only £2.25 postage, so not worth losing too much sleep over. However, I took the time to really wrap the package with great care in bubble wrap etc. to ensure the box got back to them no worse that it had arrived (it was just stuffed in a plastic bag when they sent it).

It was just the principle involved.... their fault, but I had to pay. Sorry to be a winger.

You are quite right that you should be refunded. Unfortunately, it is one of those situations where your principles (and sometime your general well-being) can prove to be very expensive. Personally, I would take it out on the cat (not literally), and name and shame the company (and shop elsewhere in future). Trading Standards may also wish to have a word, but this is dependant on the authority.
Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!
