You can always visit your local pharmacy, and they can order something suitable for you. I won't lie though, there's no way their prices can beat Poundland :o.

Yes, if she buys them, but it might be worth approaching your local occupational therapy service for an assessment. They have all sorts of equipment that they might be able to suggest or even supply i.e. tap turners, kettle tippers etc.

    Boa strap wrench

Fits everything and you don't have to "squeeze" to keep the grip. The grip automatically self tightens - you only need to grip tight enough to stop the strap from slipping, so really good for weak hands.

I had one of those and it was brilliant. :T So good in fact my OH pinched it for undoing oil filters from the car engine! I didn't want it back after that.:rotfl:

Different authorities may have different rules but unfortunately in our area now they can't help with kitchen aids, we asked my OH's occupational therapist when they were organising his stair lift. They can assess you and offer advice and even recommend where you can buy the products but they can't give them to you any more.

We used to have a local disability aid shop that was council run where you could buy things at cost price but sadly that's shut too, along with the day centre it was based in.

Well, he was using it for its original purpose :rotfl: Strap wrenches are made to take off different sizes of oil filters but using the same wrench whatever the size of the filter - hence their popularity with mechanics. Look on the bright side - home oil changes are much cheaper than getting the garage to do it

ring pulls... I use a spoon.. lift the ring with the bowl of the spoon.. put the handle through the ring and pull it back.. cheap and easy and readily available!!!

Jars.. bag the side of the lid firmly on the edge of the work surface it breaks the seal and the id comes off super easy

Bottle.. hold the lid in the hinged side of a door and turn the bottle to unscrew...

Surely I am not the only one???

The one thing I do need.. an electric can opener, I REALLY struggle with those!

I bought the type as pointed out by nuatha for my mum quite a few years ago as she has arthritic hands, she says it’s come in very handy and uses it quite frequently. One thing to point out though, if you want to reuse the jars again this will break the seal, so not good if you want to use the jars after opening to store things in e.g. pickles, homemade jam, etc. This is a very handy tool otherwise nonetheless.
