virgin inernet problem

I am losing my internet access and its driving me mad.
I turn the router and modem off wait 20 seconds ,switch back on and get back online.If I then leave the pc for any length of time I can`t get back online .The pc is showing as connected but with local access only so i have switch back off again.Can anyone help or will i have to phone Virgin which i don`t really want to do as i always seem to be on the phone for ages.:mad:

Does phoning virgin cost you anything ?

And I have found the help/support much much faster than they used to be.

Its not the cost its the time .Will have to phone i think cos its driving me nuts.
