Yes. It is a tv tuner for digital reception. Just like VCRs had analogue tuners. It is critical for a recording device to have it's own tuner to allow you to watch a different channel to the one you're recording."She is quite the oddball. great, cos i have just purchased an lcd without freeview so was hoping to atleast get a dcd recorder with freeview.//...thnx for the help guys0
