Rats - how do I multiple quote???
With the help of this site I got myself debt-free within 18 months
    BiB

    18 months - that's fab BIB :T

Terrible teens; mine are 22, 18 and 14. DS1 has adopted the 'man of the house' mantle which is very sweet but oh so funny when I do go out 'cos he wants to know where I am and when I'm going to be back :rotfl: (I'm just waiting for the lecture on 'staying safe' ;)

I'm on a pay freeze too - so am on a mission at the mo to squeeze a bit more off the household bills. I've changed tariff (again!) on the gas/electricity, Virgin is next on my hit list although don't know whether I'll be able to do anything there (apart from cancel of course) - already on a loyalty retention package. Car and house ins honed in Feb. I know what you both mean - the extra money has to come from somewhere.

    Princess thank you honey.

Thank you so much, I feel I have found a life line on these forums this morning, so many people in same situation has made me feel I am not alone.

Welcome to the board. This board is a life line and you'll find so much support here.

Before I found this site I honestly thought I was the only one...

I found reading others' posts helped me to put things into perspective - and boy did I read. If you want someone to hold your hand I'm stretching mine out.

Hello, I am on my lonesome too, but I don't mind! I have very little, fortunately my debt is going down. I work in a very low paid job and as I have a remitting/relapsing illness I find it hard to earn extra income.

    But I manage!

Dating again is great fun, I am not bothering at the moment as the last relationship ended a year ago and I haven't really picked myself up since then as break ups make me too sad, lol.

Looking back, I am relieved now I didn't stay in that relationship - like my xDH, this guy also was a spender and had a massive amount of debt. I might have ended up with his problems too!

I am so impressed with your debt-busting - if you wrote a book about your story, I would buy it!

Abba1772 - similar thing for me too. XOH wouldn't have paid anything (and he wasn't working anyway) and so our biggest debt (37K to Natwest inc interest) would have defaulted. Thankfully I made the last payment to that August 2011

I wouldn't mind so much my my ex earns £35K whilst i earn £6500 a year plus tax credits as we have two kids yet he walks off with lower debt hopefully lawyers will sort this out as our divorce came through on January so just the finances to sort out

well done piglet , i too am making roads into my debt, although not as much as you have done, fantastic job well doneeee
  • Hi all

Well done everyone on your debt-paying-off achievements!!

I too live on my own, have an average paying job and above average rent on house. I find it a struggle as a lot of my social activities were based around eating out with friends or holidays, so I'm slowly converting my friends to the MSE way of life.

I find it aggravating being on a pay freeze too, but others that I work are being assisted with training costs to encourage progression. But, as I have a degree, they refuse to assist me with professional qualifications as I have education to a certain level :(

Sometimes it seems like having studied and lived independently (private rental), no kids and no council rents that we get forgotten and have to fend completely for ourselves!!

    S :)
I have enough money for the rest of my life... as long as I never have to pay for anything again!
