Unfair dismissal - determining one year of service

Sure, but what type of notice? PILON or "garden leave"?
My contract allows for several options, which are dramatically changing the effective termination date. Unlike what some people think here, the duration of service is not calculated based on the last day you turn up for work.
Effective end date for service is the actual leaving date* OR statutory notice from the date of notice, whichever is the later(this has been said before).
Garden leave can be changed to PILON at any time it does not change the the date that notice was given but might change the contractual date you were terminated so might give you a bit more if it was more than one week after the meeting.
Why not put all the exact dates on the table.
Start date
Date of meeting where verbal notice was given
Date that the letter arrived at your house(it is not the date you recieved it if that was later).

edit : to clarify leaving date, it is the last day of contractual work the day the contract is terminated, so if put on garden leave it is when that ends.0
