I have two points to bring up. the first is, did you honestly expect the DWP to just accept what you claimed were his problems? It would be a sad sad world, if the DWP just went along and awarded benefits on the basis of what the claimant stated.

You have to provide medical evidence of those needs not evidence of the cause of them. You have to ensure that your GP at least can give the DWP a report that backs up everything that has been claimed.

The second, and this always makes me wonder, what help would it be if the State handed out £50 a week because you say he can't walk? £50 isn't going to bring about a cure is it?

I cannot understand in most cases, apart from paying a professional carer, why is there a need for more money. If my wife was given £50 a week or so, it won't improve her lot, she will still be in the same position. £400 a week would make a difference, I could then pay for a professional carer to look after her whilst I had some time off.

No I don't expect then to take my word for it but I do expect then to contact correct people to ask about. Why contact knee specialist when its for his back that we put down. They didn't even contact his GP who has been seeing him every month for the last yr or so.

No £50 doesn't get us a cure but it could help him get around whether via petrol for the car or a taxi.

    Thankyou

In which case, how does he get about now? Do you already put petrol in the car or currently pay for taxis or can you not afford to petrol in at the moment?

Ot maybe I am missing the point completely, in that as soon as you are awarded (if you are) you will put more petrol in the car than you currently do?

(I can't believe I'm feeding the troll... ) DLA is awarded regardless of whether money is already being spent to meet the needs for which it's claimed, and given that the needs must have existed for three months before DLA is claimed, and that it isn't expected to meet anything like the total cost of the needs, that is just as well. Claimants are allowed to buy petrol/use taxis as they did before, or, more often.

Here's an idea for you. Try living as a disabled person would, then come back when you understand these position people are in.
[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Yes we do put petrol in the car but just enough to get us around for important trips. We live in a rural area so a car is vital. We used to go out with friends once a week [and no we don't drink we are both teetotal] but have stopped doing that because we simply can't afford it.

We don't use taxis as they are just to expensive. If he is lucky enough to get some money yes we would put more fuel in the car then we could maybe get out more often and not be stuck indoors all the time and possibly have some kind of life.

I am definitely with you on this. We are the same, just enough petrol to get where we need to as we simply don't have any money for trips etc. we too are in a rural area and need the car for work. I don't know the last time I went anywhere other than to doctors, hospital or DWP meetings. It would certainly help my mental health which in turn would make me feel better in myself too, if I could go out maybe once a week.

£50 a week would make a massive difference to our lives.

I'm sure fogartyblue, AKA Andy, knows that already - he's an expert in (trolling) these matters!

I thought I was supposed to be Andy? Or is everyone on here just a tad paranoid?
When your life is a mess, stop and think what you are doing before bringing more kids into it, it's not fair on them.
