Is there an easy way to instal Sims2 on external drive?

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions?
As Sims 2 plus expansion packs takes up a lot of space , I wanted to run it off an external hard drive.
I've tried pasting the folders onto the new drive, editing the registry, and moving the files on the old drive, but I can't get it to run from the new drive.
My next step was to instal it again on the new drive, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas I could try?

Running a game off an external drive is never a good idea- you just won't get good performance, if you even manage to get it working at all.. I'd upgrade the internal hard drive, or add a second internal drive. Not a very difficult job if you know what you're doing!
Sorry this wasn't the answer you were looking for.0 -

Yep, Rob is quite right. Even with USB2 or Firewire, the data transfer rate can't compare with an internal HDD and so you'll get substandard performance.
You could consider installing a second hard disk in your PC and install the game to that. Internal hard disks are dirt cheap at the moment, and well worth considering as an alternative.Lack of money is the root of all evil.

The easiest option is to reinstall the game so that all the appropriate folders and configuration files are set-up for you.- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0
