Hi,
I've always been worried about getting a credit card incase i get into debt but i am now thinking that i need one to help my credit rating as i have never had any loans either (apart from student loan). I am also going to NYC soon and think it would be an advantage to have one incase i lose my cash etc.
Are there any recommendations you could pass on for having a 1st card and also for using it abroad.
Thanks

Yes, don't use it abroad unless you've applied for the Halifax Clarity credit card.
Try using https://letmechoose.barclaycard.co.uk/ as this will give you an indication about whether you'll be accepted for a card with BarclaycardEstate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
Do you have any credit at all? Overdraft? Contract mobile phone?
If you have no credit at all your lack of history may be a problem. In the first instance the bank you use for your main current account is the best bet outside of the sub-prime offerings.0
