Argos Substitutions?

I reserved an Lindam stair gate online yesterday and went to the store to collect.

Imagine how I felt when I got home, over an hour later, to find that I had been given a different make.

Now correct me if I am wrong, but if I order a particular item that's what i expect to be in the box.

    This annoys me!

    I reserved 2 lampshades online, went to the store to pick them up, paid and come home.

    They should have been a 'linen' colour, but they were GINGER!!

    Nothing like the colour in the catalogue or online, so had to go back for a refund.

    Pain in the backside, especially because it cost me to get there and back twice Grrrrrrr!!

    I researched the stair gates as I take the safety of my son very seriously and chose the Lindam as it has won awards etc. Argos even refer to these awards on their website.
  • If there is the possibility you may get offered a sub , you SHOULD be informed of this at the checkout stage , it will be on the screen in front of the cashier . I work in an Argos stockroom , and the Lindam gates do sometimes come in . Maybe take it back and ask for the one in the brown box , the non-Lindam one is in a white box .
  • i had the same problem with a digibox when they took index over, the old index store had been clearing stuff out and then about a week later my digibox expired, got a refund from dixons (somehow) and ordered one from argos, got one they never sold, didn't work out the box, took it back and insisted they found exactly what i ordered as the stock machine said 12 in!!!

    it broke, but at least i got what i paid for

    Well, I would get the manager and ask her/him to kick the CA's a**, I never understand it you tell them day in, day out to READ the bulletins and they never bother, it's not exactly hard reading out loud is it now?(feel large, long rant coming on so I’ll stop right there)
