£50 - £100 compensation??? hahahaha
national data = mistakes happen.
an erroneous transfer means your original supplier bills you as if you had never left.
the normal person puts money aside for when the bill arrives.
the idiot sits back, uses the energy and expects to pay nothing...0 -
Consumer Direct are really good for helping get energy companies to sort out the mistakes they make - they got a problem I had with Eon fixed really quickly - they have some kind of internal escalation process direct with the energy companies which they tend to take notice of.
I had written about 3 letters + countless calls to Eon - got nowhere - always had a different person and had to explain the problem for from the start.
Then one call to consumer direct + a follow up call a week later and problem sorted (plus got £50 goodwill too from Eon)
Consumer Direct number is 08454 04 05 06
... someone should tell them not to use 0845 numbers ... but apart from that they wer great for me
PLEASE NOTE as of today(? or was it yesterday?) consumer direct has been taken over - its now being run by citizens advice.
There is an online form for sending a query so you don't have to pay the 0845 number charges. number is still the same 08454 04 05 06.
Online forms available linked from the direct gov site (have not been allowed to post links as a newbie)0 -

Something similar happened to me in my first home a few years back. I got 6 months of energy bills written off so whilst you may scoff at £50-100 I had many times this in compensation with barely a whisper of a complaint.
Are you going to make any useful contribution to the thread or just troll it?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
A victim?
Really.....
Why should you be due any compo? You will pay exactly what you would have, had this not happened. Therefore, you are not out of pocket, bar a few phone calls.0 -
I've known some people who have been ET'd do quite well out of it! They get transferred back to the original supplier, who only bills from the date they are returned & the supplier they were ET'd to, cancels all of the bills & refunds the money. In effect they pay nothing for that period.
It doesn't happen in every case, but it's quite common.0 -

I like that!
So the old supplier coughs up for money to the distributor and doesn't bill the customer when neither party are at fault. Week done to those companies for not understanding the ET process and what they pay in settlements :T:rotfl:
I have seen this when the ET process cannot be followed where the registration date is, say over 12 months. So the only way is a correct registeation and the can bill it as a change if supplier and the customer was left to argue with the other supplier to wipe their billing. They may or may not but if you look at the industry say 7 years ago, customers being ET's for even several year where neither supplier was billing and the customer was tearing their hair out just trying to get them to help, was pretty common.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
