Hello,
Slightly strange question! Can I store my cylinder hoover in the cupboard that houses my hot water tank??!!!
OH seems to think it will get sooo hot in there that it will melt the plastic bits on the hoover............dont ask, you dont have to live with him!!! Bless him :rotfl:
I'm just struggling with space a bit and apart from my pantry which I really want to just keep for food etc there isnt really any other places that I can think of.
Any thoughts appreciated,
ta

Before Henry got relgated to the shed to be used to clean out the car i stored it in the cupboard where my gas central heating/water boiler was housed. Yes it gets warm in there but nowhere near warm enough to melt anything. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Has your hot water tank got a jacket or solid insulation - in which case no problem. If no jacket or insulation then that is a problem - not because of your hoover but because of the money lost in heat loss."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0

Thanks peeps. Yes, it does have a jacket - managed to get a sooper-dooper bargain one from W*ckes for £2.99. OH nearly fainted when I compared them to other places!
Think i'll just stick it in there without him knowing and by the time he's got around to noticing, i'll have proven him wrong about anything melting. Either that or be on my way to buying a new hoover! But I want a golden goose daddy and I want it right NOW!!!!!

I have always kept mine in my large walk-in airing cupboard which until a couple of years ago housed our CH boiler. Have stored both upright and cylinder in there with no problems.
Edited - just re-read your post. Your cupboard shouldn't get so hot so I think you must think of insulation!0 -
I live in a flat, so I know all about struggling for space. Every cubic centimetre is precious.
My vacuum cleaner lives in the airing cupboard with the water tank, along with a lot of other plastic things, and none of them have melted yet.
Most common plastics melt from 120 to 255 degrees Centigrade. A couple of specialised ones melt at just over 325C and 335C. If the airing cupboard got to just 120C, melting vacuum cleaners would be the least of your problems. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
as this has dropped down the OS board, ive moved it to In my home to see if you get any useful advice over here

If it gets too hot in there, it is because the water cylinder is not well enough insulated. All the heat that you can feel is wasted energy that you are paying for without getting any return on your money.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
