Yahoo problem

I am having a problem with my Yahoo email account. I don't use it as much as my hotmail account, but I may get half a dozen emails a day.

However, I was looking at my Yahoo account yesterday as I was expecting a couple of emails and although they went into my Yahoo inbox, they then disappeared and I found them in my trash folder.

So today, I sent an email from my hotmail and it arrived in my Bt Yahoo account at 13.25, so far so good.

However, by 13.28 it was in the trash folder. I cannot understand why they are moving there automatically?

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I have looked at my settings, but I have no automatic settings except to transfer them to my hotmail account, but until now they have stayed in my yahoo inbox as well until I manually move them out.

Perhaps your spam filter on Yahoo is too strict. Have you tried to make it less so?

I have not made any changes to any filters. The emails are not going into the spam box and just going straight to the trash box

The email that I sent from my hotmail account just had on the subject line 'check 1' and three question marks as the message

But you still need to check your Spam settings-they may have defaulted to something different, such as sending spam straight to the trash.

At 13.55 I sent an email to myself from and to Yahoo. It arrived but I did not open it. I refreshed the screen twice and at 13.56 it was in the trash.

Will check filters, but cannot see why this would be seen as spam and yesterday things were still going into my spam folder and I didn't empty that until today - but everything that should have been in the inbox was transferring to trash

I have just been onto BT for email help at an Indian call centre. I was on for 68 minutes, she first blamed Firefox - said it was defintely a browser problem as she could not replicate it on internet explorer. She deleted my firefox and installed a new version - then deleted all my tabs which I didn't want doing. Deleted all my history on internet explorer? She said IE was corrupted.

However, when she went back to internet explorer, surprise, surprise - the emails she had sent me had gone into the trash - as well as on Firefox, they just stayed in the inbox a little longer on internet explorer.

Her navigation skills and spelling were poor, what was downwnload films - oh yes, she typed the downwnload and hit films and not firefox.

Her parting shot was that it was not a yahoo problem - I suggested it was not a browser problem either as it happened on both browsers. She is ringing me back at 5, as she thinks it is resolved now.

I'm glad that I said I would leave feedback at the end of the call

You'd do better to follow the advice on here than trust to BT tech support. What about looking at your spam filter settings?

Hi macman, I did check my spam settings as you suggested, but could not find anything that needed to be changed.

However, 30 minutes after the call began she was still telling me it was a Firefox problem and then she checked and could see that they had moved from the inbox to the trash on IE .

Between 14.29 and 15.13, those 4 that she sent transferred to the trash folder.

Between 15.17 and 15.29, the 3 that she sent haven't moved to the trash folder. So in that 4 minute gap, I wonder what she did?

She was adamant when the call finished that the problem was not with Yahoo -and so far the emails have not moved into my trash folder on either browser.
