documents for a makro tradecard?

hi there, i became self employed in february this year, i own a small catering business and would like a makro card so that i can see if i can get any supplies from there, i have been on the website and it states that you need photographic ID which i do have and a recent correspondence form HMRC. I have recieved today information from HMRC about my national insurance contributions, would this be accepted as the correspondence or not?

many thanks
sarah

Yes, that should be fine. They accept other items as well. Best thing to do is to call them.

A photo driving license would count as photo id - and most Makro's are far enough away that you need a car... I can see an overlap here!

From memory Makro require the address documents to be business related. If the HMRC letter is about your Class 2 NI contributions or something else definitely about being a sole trader I am sure itll be fine but if it is something to do with your PAYE NI contributions or such then it may not be.

You could always just phone your local store and ask, they tend to be fairly helpful
  • thanks, yes it is regarding class 2 NI contributions. I did try to ring them several times but they kept me on hold and then a message came on saying are you happy with your message or would you like to re-record your message so i am guessing they are having a problem with the phone lines today?

thanks for your help i will pop in later on with what i have and see what they say.
    thanks again

They'll usually let you in on a day pass to check out what they've got on offer.

Don't get too excited as most items are available cheaper elsewhere, such as at the large supermarkets.
Don't forget their prices are often quoted ex-VAT to make them look cheaper, but you'll be charged VAT at the applicable rate at the checkout.

If you don't regularly buy from them, they'll stop your card and you'll have to apply again. I soon gave up with them entirely.

We have a Makro card as hubby is self employed but no way would i say its cheap.

The best offers on the Makro mail can sell out within minutes of reaching the store. Last summer we wanted to buy a new air con unit and when we enquired about the availability they told us they had only been sent 12 which had sold out as soon as they hit the shelves. I ask you, what use is 12 to a store as big as Makro?
