I feel for you I really do. I worked for an ex army person in one of my jobs, real ar$£hole of a bloke he was. I'd get phone calls at 8:30am (after finishing the 12 hour night shift at 6am and going to bed), phone calls to 'have a go', silent treatment at work, or get called every name under the sun etc.
I never bothered working my notice as I knew what would happen. I just told them to shove the job and never went back.
It'll cost them a fortune in legal costs if they want to sue you but if they're a big company they might have a contract for legal services etc. Personally I wouldn't worry about it but you need to go with your gut instinct. IF you think the company might have the resources and intention work your notice and get out asap. If you think they're bluffing don't bother.0 -
My boss is just horrible, intimidating, mocks me, and since handing in mynotice she's blatantly ignored me.
If I could I would never go back, but I don't know what the company will do against me. I know they wouldn't do anything that would ruin the company's reputation.
I wouldn't mind disiplinary action if they write it on my reference etc, it's just the meeting in the office where you'll get told how rubbish you really are, that's making me stressed.Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -

At the end of the day they could put on a reference that you breached the contract with an unauthorised day of which looks bad and is easier for the company than going through courts.
I called in and said I'm unable to come in (non-sickness related) Just thought it'd be an easy route to get out of there.. I guess not..Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -
If this strike on petrol thing happens then I'm sorted for not going into work

Unfortunately though that won't be until the 3rd April....The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

The employer did. And won.
Interesting - do you have a reference? Be useful to see if they were white or blue collar, length of service, any contractual limitations (eg no compete).0
