Has anybody on here been sued or taken to court by work for breach of contract?
Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000
Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/14

there was a case on here where someone was being taken to court....not sure if anything came of it thoughThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

At a guess, leaving without giving notice...The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Probably not.
Usually, employers will not be able to do anything about an employee who leaves on short notice, because any damages they do suffer will be more than covered by the saving in the employee's salary.

Took one day off and I've dug myself into a hole. And have to go back to my job Monday, even though I can't stand the place at all! I actually feel scared to talk to my manager now

What did you take one day of for?
At the end of the day they could put on a reference that you breached the contract with an unauthorised day of which looks bad and is easier for the company than going through courts.The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

If you've gone AWOL - then it's not really breach of contract rather you've broken local policy which means they could counter your resignation with disciplinary.....
If they can be bothered....0 -

Yes. A few months ago someone walked out of their job. There was the usual bleating of although they can sue you they won't.
The employer did. And won.0
