Barclaycard debt

Have taken a huge drop in income which I'm trying to recover through the courts and am existing on basic state pension. House is on the market with plenty of equity.
I was receiving automated calls from BC daily none today so far. The problem is they only give choices as how to pay.
Obviously I can't pay at present, but I've received pension today.
Should I ring that number and pay £20 off each card?

How many cards do you have, what do you owe, what rates, what are the min payments?

Given you can't make minimum payments on either, you should contact them to see if you can set up an arrangement and what that should be - either on one card or both. See what they suggest.

But 20k is going to take a long time to clear, so you need to think of a long term strategy, whether this is selling the house or other items, or a new income stream. But it doesn't look like you will avoid defaulting at present.

Have you been in touch at all with them yet to inform them of your situation? The drop in your income?

If not I would write to them to explain and yes its best to pay at least a token payment each month.
National debtline website has sample letters you could look at.

Thankyou both. Yes they know the situation and left me alone for 30 days, but the court procedure is slow.
I will take your advice tomorrow.
