Petrol prices have risen nearly 3p in 3 weeks.
Full story to come later. Joyous.

Could be worse - if it wasn't for that rabbit out of the hat at last years budget you'd have been paying an extra penny a litre all year.0 -
And if it wasn't for the fuel duty escalator we would have been paying less than we are now.0

how long before the £2 a litre ,
why is fuel sold in litres , it comes from a barrel which is 42 gallons , cars fuel economy is measured in mpg , is the fact that £1.48 per litre i more palatable than £6.60 (ish) per gallon0 -

But don't forget they increased VAT so have hidden the increase.
When you fill up and realise £15 or more is just VAT, which is on top of the duty you are getting close to £1.00 a litre in just tax. Something like £30 billion , I believe in duty p.a. and growing daily.
They have there own escalator given gratis by demand and the commodity speculators."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Cheer up, in about 20 years it will be £5 a litre.0

Off to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland later in the year and I am already budgeting £2.00L:eek:
Remember the fuel protests early noughties when it breached £1.00L. I guess with inflation and the escalator it isn't far off the mark in reality. Doesn't help that for many pay has stagnated and real inflation across the board, for necessary items, is far higher than the headline rates, making the impact worse."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

We can all get our own back by using our cars less. We've enjoyed years of cheap transport and become entitled, wasteful and slothful.
With prices at £1.40/ litre I know I use my car less. I'm much more careful about being organised and combining personal journeys (saves time too) and I walk to the local shops much more often. I get private fuel use provided by my employer so it doesn't directly save me any money anyway.0 -
High fuel prices will drive better efficiencies in engines and will prevent short, wasteful journeys that could be done by foot. They will also reduce the number of Chelsea Tractors driving for miles to get the little dears to a school across town that had slightly better OFSTED results than the local school. It might even help highstreet stores in towns and villages as folk decided it's cheaper to shop local than to travel to out of town superstores.
I don't see too much of a problem with high fuel prices TBH.0
