Airline changed flights from direct to indirect

Direct/non stop flights are always more than going indirect.
To the West maybe.....but not to the East.
Example in point. I'm currently searching for flights to Atlanta and also Boston. Both are these destinations are served on my dates by airlines whom offer considerably cheaper prices than the other airlines who fly to different hubs.0 -
I should also add that at the time of booking, the flights I've now ended up with were also available at a lower cost but I didn't book them because I wanted direct/non-stop.
If the return flight on Delta "metal" from Miami to UK is either non-stop or via New York, it makes no difference. As Richard intimated in post # 2, there is no compensation payable under EC Reg 261/2004 as Delta is not an EU registered airline. If Delta operated the outward flight from the UK, you would have protection under EC Reg 261/2004 for that flight.
According to the T & C's of most US based IATA airlines, their contract is to get you from A to B. Sorry but they can vary the aircraft, date, timings, stops en-route etc, etc. There will be no compensation payable by Delta..
Regarding your comment about pricing, it is a complex and dynamic model. Prices go up, prices go down. Airlines price to get the maximum revenue per seat but they also have seat sales. Once you agree to buy your ticket that is the end of your chance to negotiate a price - regardless. The airline merely agrees to get you from A to B and Delta have arranged to do this.
So very sorry but for your flight and any entitlement to compensation, it is bad news. Perhaps try not to let this spoil what should be a wonderful holiday with your family.0 -

I just booked a flight to Las Vegas. £700 direct or £565 indirect.
Unless your flying to some obscure airport direct will be cheaper. Unless your booking STN-LGW via MAN.
btw, i went for the direct/non stop option0
