one of the teacher's at my children's school told me our local water company will provide a new washing machine and add £2 extra a month onto the water bill for the priviledge - it needed a referral from a professional and I'm not clear exactly how long you were expected to pay the £2 a month for but it would be worth a word with the Health Visitor.

Just cos that's what he thinks doesnt make it right.

Tell her to get the CSA involved.

Exactly. My brother pays his ex-wife maintenance and he has the kids 50% of the time, she gets all the tax credits, child benefit and earns the same as he does as a teacher.

Quite how that happened I don't know and its far from fair.

We have a charity shop called 'The British Heart Foundation' they have things that are donated to them check your local charity shops(the larger ones) our is local and weve donated furniture they got loads of stuff all at reasonable prices, see if you got a store locally.
Also worth looking at your local evening paper amongst the ads.
goodluck i hope you find what you are looking for.

before i finish i'd like to add the father is pulling a fast one he should be paying maintenance. start looking into it to get him pay his fair share,he can make a child he sure can pay for it too.

OP, could the family help out? Either by clubbing together for a secod-hand machine, or doing her washing for her if you're close by?

She definitely needs to have a word with the father about maintenance.

Where I live, there is a shop that rents out washing machines for a few pounds a week, might be good while she is looking.

Try Gumtree, Preloved, Freecycle and Facebook selling pages. Place a wanted ad in some local shops.

Hope she gets sorted soon :) I've been there!
Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind.
They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.

But the child isn't hers - she's theirs - and they should both be supporting her financially.
