Display Problem

Anyone help with this one? Ive got a Dell Dimension 3000, and yesterday the display started going on and off intermitently. Thought it was a monitor fault, so swapped that for one which i know is ok, but still the problem persists. The display just won't stay on unless I move the mouse and keep it moving, would it be the display adapter whatever that is, diagnosing computer problems ain't my thing as I'm sure you can tell, not sure if the computer is about to die, but trying to back up all my data and not having a display to see what i'm doing is proving difficult:-(. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi,
same thing happened to me on previous computer, 'picture' would come and go, would be pixelated, some days ok, others unusable, eventually just died.
If you get the chance, on one of the good times, back up or copy everything important.
Good luck.0
