PPI Claim Text Messages

Hi, I received a text message today, asking me to make contact as I am due to £2650 in compensation for PPI mis-selling! How do they know that I was mis sold a policy without me knowing about it. and do I take this as being a legit source? the number i got looks like a mobile number! possibly premium number if i reply back. What should i do. I have no idea about any loans or anything i might have taken out.
I had a quick read of the MSE guide to reclaim PPI mis-selling but found it all very confusing. So much to easy steps to follow.

Ignore it.
You're getting trolled by a company sending texts out to thousands of numbers in the hope that someone will ring them back and they can get some business out of it. I get half a dozen of these texts a week and they're a load of rubbish.
They don't know the first thing about you. Delete and forget.0 -

They are random spams. I have had these text messages and am an IFA and never had PPI. My 10 year old daughter has had the spam texts telling her she was entitled to £x back as well. My eldest daughter keeps getting texts she is entitled thousands due to her car accident (she is 15).
They are the equivalent of email spams. Ignore them. They are attempting to scam you.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you had ppi on a loan or CC and have reasons for being mis sold, then put a claim in to the bank concerned, it is as easy as that!! nothing to it and a company will take a % of the redress and Vat.
Look here for reasons and if any/all apply to you then put a claim in.

Hi,
So, If i bought a car about 5 years ago, and paid on my credit card where the outstanding amount was on 0% interest payments over a year, would i have been given the option to take out PPI, if so is it the Bank where i have payments coming out or the credit Card company with which i paid the initial amount with? If it is the bank, what details do i give them to trace if i had been sold PPI! the company i bought my car from has closed (CarLand) and reopened as another company.

I am astounded at what the banks are giving back @ the moment
The FSA stitched them up big time and whilst they were wrong in some areas, the FSA has basically ensured that people with no entitlement to a penny can get redress. So, If i bought a car about 5 years ago, and paid on my credit card where the outstanding amount was on 0% interest payments over a year, would i have been given the option to take out PPI
Possibly.if so is it the Bank where i have payments coming out or the credit Card company with which i paid the initial amount with?
